Where Oh Where is My Teddy Bear? [guessing game/Little Mouse var.]

[Let's name the things on the magnet board together. (chair, pear, underwear, square). "What do you notice about the way these words sound? They all RHYME with BEAR! (Insert caregiver tip about value of rhyming/phonological awareness).]

"Where oh where is my teddy bear? Is my bear behind the...chair?"

Variation--if opening with a puppet, have it be the puppet's missing teddy bear and have the puppet express her stress. Reunite them once Teddy is found.

"Dinosaur, Dinosaur, Are You Behind the _______ Store?"

A "Little Mouse" variation for dino-themed storytimes. I use a magnet board more often than a flannel board, printing out graphics on cardstock, laminating them, and affixing magnets to their backs, but the graphics could also be glued onto pieces of flannel.

One word that rhymes with 'dinosaur' is 'store.' Can you think of MORE? [Store, bore, shore, etc.] A dinosaur is hiding behind one of these stores. Let's look for him!
